To reconstruct, to revive models

a

To completely reconstruct an organ means to restore with new or just little preserved materials a previous, documented condition which represents a special value.
A reconstruction remains a new construction which orientates to a great extent toward a historical model. It is especially a possibility in cases where once a valuable, now lost, organ stood in the same place and where sufficient historical material can be provided.

It is only possible to recunstruct organs if one is able to read the sources and to see and implement historical caraceristics and if he knows how to interpret the few, still available details regarding case, pipework, console, etc.

Thus with our today's hands, tools and ears it is in a certain way possible to revive an image of sound which was thought to be lost as well as the idea and concept of an organ of the past.

During the past decades we have been working successfully on the various reconstructions. The findings resulting from the restoration of ancient organs could be included in the controlled an creative process of reconstruction and our experience in both cases has an effect on our new constructions.
